I'm look at this configuration for $917.15

    Processor: Intel Core i5-2520M Processor (2.50GHz, 3MB L3)
    Display type: 15.6" HD+ (1600 x 900) LED Backlit Anti-Glare Display, Mobile Broadband Ready
System graphics: NVIDIA NVS 4200M Graphics with Optimus Technology, 1GB DDR3 Memory
    Total memory: 4 GB DDR3 - 1333MHz (1 DIMM)

How is the video playback performance of NVIDIA NVS 4200M? How does the display compare to Asus N53 or Sony Vaio F?

I have T520 with FHD. For watching video the FHD screen is very good, vibrant colors just like on a real TV, the HD+ should be just about average.

There is no concern on performance. HD3000 maybe better than NVS 4200M in term of video playback performance, but any choice will be way overkill.

The drawback to use T520 for home entertainment is that its speaks are weak. The audio quality is good, if you listen carefully, but the volume is definitely not enough to fill the whole room.

For home entertainment, I would recommend looking at some 17' or larger notebooks, as the size increases, screen and speaker all get more comfortable.

Are you planning to use it to drive a larger TV or screen and speakers or just as a standalone unit? If it's the latter, I'd go FHD, and then invest in a nice pair of headphones of speakers.

The Intel GPU has way better decoding performance and quality. NVidia sucks in that regard.
