Hello guys, I just found that new T520 can be equipped with new i7 (up to 2820QM) cpu,
    FHD,
    and Discrete NVIDIA® NVS 4200M (1GB VRAM ) with Optimus™ Technology.

These are very similar to current W510 configurations (i7+FHD+nVidia FX-880M).

Does it mean that it may be better to move for a new T520 because of its newer CPU or better performance? I did not consider new W520 since it could be very expensive when it is out.

I will mainly use the computer for 3D animation and picture handling.

    Many thanks.

the FX 880 M graphics card on the W510 is better, also you can get 4 ram slots on the W510 (provided you opt for the Quad Core model), is the new T520 with QC equipped with 4 ram slots?

Also, the W510 will drop in price after say 1 month into the release of the W520, so you may find a second hand, end of life or refurbished model.

be careful with outlet prices and particularly configuration.

W510 with 4 slots of memory and win 7 32bit make little sense. Since 32bit can't use beyond 4GB (3GB i know of) unless system recovery has option for both 32bit & 64bit.

Off course people will have different opinion but I have seen better price brand new laptop at lenovo site (you can choose your option to reduce price)

W510 should be the way to go compare to T520 (no 4 slots for memory)

Even rep told me go with W510 (off course they want to sell old model) but advise was honest.

You've seen a new W510 720 quad, FHD 19x10 high Gamut, 4GB ram, 500GB 7200rpm, 6300 wifi, webcam machine for below $1100 new? Really? I'm throwing down the BS card. Got proof?

As for the comment on x86 versus x64, I always figure anyone considering a W510 should be intelligent enough to know such things.

Do not assume other come here for BS (I know you don't mean but in case). I had same config in cart for $1169 while ago & return it due to fan noise in W510. I had posted it in W510 series thread.

also problem with outlet I notice you can't add warranty (might have to call lenovo to extend)

why all the refurbish are 32bit OS?? does anyone know recovery include 64bit... just want to know in case I consider one with good price (chances are low but never know)

asking sales rep is kind of useless since they know little

you can download a 64 bit windows 7 iso for free, but you would have to purchase the 64 bit recovery media from Lenovo for 50 USD.
