Just about to order the T530 with FHD display. Can anyone who recently purchased one confirm they are still using the really well regarded TN screens in this model? I thought I read somewhere that the newer T530s were shipping with a different panel type although still nice for a TN display but it wasn't the AOU type or AUO...not sure of the specific manufacture name.

I just had the W530 and I believe they share the same FHD panel. For being TN it was pretty good, much better than your standard panel. I actually got the W530 because the T530 wasn't available any longer in the quad-core version, only the "W" series was.

I did read a reference that the new T540p FHD display is not the same quality as the old T530 FHD display, but haven't read anything about Lenovo lowering the quality of that original panel on the T530. They may have different mfg's producing it for them and the quality between them may differ a bit, but at this point that's going to be hit or miss as I'm sure T530 sales are not what they used to be.

If it was that critical to you, I would opt for onsite warranty so you can have a tech swap the panel out under warranty so you have a better shot of getting the right one. Or look at the Outlet for an older model.

Thanks for the reply. Right after I posted this, I tried to order the T530 I wanted but the page went offline. Guess they sold out of the i5 FHD version. Last thing they had was the i3 version...Oh well. Better luck in the future...unless they depleted all remaining stop for the new models.

I've read some complaints (either on Lenovo Forum or TPF) about a different revision of the same AUO panel being used...but for the life of me I can't locate the thread(s)...

All the FHD screens used in T/W 510/20/30 series were made by AUO.
