    T530 FHD Screen problem

    I have recently received my T530. Apart from them using the wrong palm rest (has a color sensor bezel in it) I am quite happy with it.

    The only problem is the FHD screen: colors (especially red) are over-saturated, almost neon-like.

    I have read the existing threads regarding this issue on the T510/520 and tried a couple of color profiles but the over-saturated colors remain. Doesn't the T530 use the same panel (AUO B156HW01 V.4)?

    I don't want to get a color sensor as I am not a photographer.

    Any advice? Thanks in advance for your time.

    I can send you a link to some icc profiles if you send me your email address. I use 'Screen 1 2010-4-29' works well.

    If you have color sensor, it does not come with some software to calibrate the screen ?
    I have a spyder3 but I have always wondered how useful it is to have a builtin sensor.

    Actually I do not have a color sensor, only a bezel for it in the palm rest.

    Dvorak... any luck with the profiles from Mac? I tried the ones he recommended but it seemed to make it it worse overall. I have an HP DV6T next to it and the HP is outshining it in color accuracy.

    Any further thoughts or profiles to try? Or should I just go for a Color Calibrator?

    The reason you are having problems with color accuracy is that you are using a wide gamut (10 bit AFAIK) monitor and the vast majority of applications only support an 8 bit color depth. When there is a difference between the application and monitor color depth, there will always be a problem with color accuracy. I think your graphics card should be able to emulate an 8 bit application into 10 bit output, but I haven't really looked into it.

    Why would they put a 10 bit monitor in a ThinkPad then? The FHD screen is targeted specifically at users that run graphics applcations that support 10 bit color depth, like Photoshop and CAD programs. The advantage is support for a more precise color range (2^10 vs 2^8 colors).

    Not sure what Mac profiles you are referring to. I had tried a couple from the forums but without success. Unfortunately up to now mac1133 hasn't sent me the link to the 'Screen 1 2010-4-29' profile he mentioned.

    It's a shame Lenovo doesn't provide a calibrated profile with the monitor driver.

    Before you let your imaginations run wild, keep in mind that the FHD panel used in the T530 is the AUO B156HW01 V4. You should check the relevant characteristics of this particular panel.
