From reading the forum I am a bit unsure about this so I thought I would seek clarification. I will be ordering a T530 and I want to replace the primary hard drive with an SSD (Samsung 830 256GB).
I will not be using the removed hard drive so the SSD will be the only drive (other than the DVD) in the laptop. So, I believe I do not need to get the caddy but I want to make sure. Will I need anything else to do the swap out? Will this SSD fit in the space OK?
Thanks.

You should be good to go as long as you have a plan to either clone the original drive or do a clean install Of win7 with a dvd or usb. Then you should head to lenovos site and get all the updated drivers if you are planning a clean install.

Notice the two "rubber spacers" on the two sides of the HDD. Ideally, your replacement SSD's height must match the stock HDD's height.
Other than that, you do not need to buy anything else. -
Great! Thanks for the help. I ordered it all today. I am looking forward to having a T530 with a SSD.

My W530 came with a 7-mm hard drive. Yours probably will too. If so then the rubber bumpers should fit your new Samsung 830. If you ordered a different, 9-mm height SSD then you can purchase bumpers on eBay for a couple dollars -- search for "lenovo rubber bumpers" or "lenovo rubber rails". IIRC the bumpers are the same for all Lenovo laptop models, but you can avoid any uncertainties there by purchasing from a seller who advertises them for your model series (T500/510/520/530).
