Hey Guys, I know I have asked a lot of questions, but I was wondering if any of you have noticed any flex in the case just above where the audio buttons are? In other words when I have my T530 open I can press on the case just below the display and right above the audio buttons and get quite a bit of movement. On the opposite side there is none. the case fits nice and tight there. My follow up question is, should I even worry about this? Thanks.
Just to update, basically it is like the top and bottom do not fit tightly together on that side of the laptop. So I guess flex may not be the right word.

Hello,
My lenovo T530 has exactly the same issue... it's annoying, especially when you press the mute/volume buttons..I removed the keyboard to look and it seems there's some space in there and the keyboard doesn't really fit well in that space...I don't think there's anything you can do.
It's a bit disappointing to have an issue like this on a premium laptop. -
They are designed to be built with speed so that everything clicks in place, that's why there is so many gaps and flexing, they don't want to a use a single piece chassis/frame, also makes producing different models easier. Not so much durability in mind though, they will crack easily, they aren't as clean and cut finished, more flexing, gaps, etc. but for some reason i still like their damn products so much, hurts me inside.kevroc likes this. -
"Funny" thing is, my friend has the L430 (which is much cheaper, actually almost twice as less than the T530) and his unit does not have this issue, the keyboard fits perfectly in there and there's no flex at all. I don't understand what those IBM engineers were thinking when they decided to build the machine like this, especially one advertised as premium.
I'm curios if all T530 units have this issue, or just few. -

The "IBM engineers" that are still employed by Lenovo have to follow what the upper management requires...and lack of flex is not high on the priority list. That's what one gets - amongst other things - for lower price (when compared to IBM days) and a hair-thin profit margin on the manufacturer's end.
At least the planars on these don't seem to be prone to flexing...
