I just thought I would encourage you guys to check your palm-rests just under the stickers on your T530 and possibly W530 (as it is my understanding they use the same body parts). As I just discovered a hairline crack, nothing has falling off yet like people have talked about over on the Lenovo forum. It appears to me that it was caused during manufacturing as it is right where it curves down and so there would be a bit of stress there. And no this has never been dropped or manhandled. I spent to much money on it to do that with it. I am hoping this will be covered under warranty as it is only 5 months old, but I have my doubts because others have had a hard time with Lenovo over this. Be for warned. I don't know how wide spread this is and it is kind of hard to see. I just happened to see it because the light just hit it right. At first I thought it might be a scratch, but when I looked at it with a magnifying glass I was able to see that it was a crack. Again I would encourage you guys to keep an eye on your palm-rests.

Well, I just got off the phone with the Atlanta service center. I spoke with a very polite man who was very helpful. He right away escalated my case and so now I wait and see what happens. Hopefully they cover it. Unfortunately I don't have the warranty service where they come to you, so I hope I can take it to a carry in and that they are good. Anyway, I will keep you posted. I am beginning to think I made a mistake in going with Lenovo. Even if they do cover this, my guess is that they next one I get will also crack as this is an issue with the plastic or the manufacturing process. So until the address that it is just going to keep happening. My other concern is that it may not go back together properly. Oh, well, live and learn.

    Accidents do happen.

    Why be so negative?

I did not have any accidents with my T530. So, I am not sure what you are saying here.

I am not trying to be negative. I am basing this on the idea that this is a manufacturing issue that probably has not been addressed yet. So, I would assume that all replacement parts are made in the same way. Also this is not an isolated case as there are others and my guess is that more will come to light. The sad thing is Lenovo already went through this with the T4x series. In either case my prayer is that, if they do replace it, that it will not crack again :)

Get your crack fixed. No need to take anyone's wisecrack.

    :D

I just wanted to update you guys on my situation. As I mentioned I called Lenovo and to my surprise they sent me a new palmrest bezel. So, I now have a new palmrest, which I have to install but that doesn't look to difficult. The only thing is, as I mentioned in another thread I received one with the color calibration sensor. I am trying to find out if it will actually work on a T530 or if I should remove it and put the plug from the old palmrest in. So, if any of you have any thoughts on that I would be interested in them :). Thanks.
