Has anyone seen a recent side by side of the Lenovo T530 vs the W530? If one comparably equips them (processor upgrades, SSD, 1900x1080 display etc..) the T530 is still much cheaper.. just wondering where the rest of the difference lie as the spec sheets are less specs than sales sheets.

In my business i do alot of heavy data analysis so Access databases approaching 2gig in size.. excel sheets >150 meg, SQL and so forth.. so raw computing power is all I really care about (and easy on my old eyes)
currently using a t61 with an SSD and a t420-i5.

Where would I see a difference between the T530 and the W530?

There is no difference aside from GPU and availability of certain options; they even share hardware maintenance manual.

You can get K1000/K2000 GPU or color sensor or RAID chip on the motherboard only with W530. If you don't care about graphics card or RAID, the cheaper one is the one to get (if you want quad-core W series may end up cheaper than upgraded T series, but it depends on the day, coupons etc).

Thanks... The only significant thing (from my PoV) I have seen is the w530 has 4 operational mem slots to the t530's 2. That may not be worth the extra costs ( again depending on the model and the deal of the day)
    Thanks again!

If you need raw compute power, a quad core may well be worth it for you, if your applications support multi-threading. Also be aware that Lenovo have a strange discount system, the more you spend the bigger the online discount they can give you. In some cases it has actually come out cheaper to spec your laptop with the better options than the more basic spec, so don't automatically assume that the better spec will be much more expensive, check it first.

Also not sure where you live but Lenovo have been doing some 30% discount sales lately on all notebooks so keep an eye out for that because together with the standard online discount it can equal over 1k in savings.

Haha, funny I made a similar thread recently and found the opposite, although I think in my case it's because I wanted a quad core and discrete GPU and if you select those the T530 becomes more expensive. I think in the end it boils down to if you know you want a quad core and may want a faster GPU get the W530, otherwise go for the T530.
