Here is a video of a T540p with 3K display demonstrating the scroll lag problem. Right screen is a 1920x1200 display powered by a full-blown desktop PC vs. the T540p running an identical (external) screen on the left side. The left screen is plagued by horrible scroll lag whereas the right screen is doing just fine.

Can anyone reproduce this behaviour on either an external screen connected to their T540p or on the internal 3k display?

I have a T540p as well and am familiar with this issue. You can solve it by setting the GPU to NVIDIA only. It's a problem caused by the Intel drivers.

Open NVIDIA Control Panel and set preferred graphics processor for Firefox to NVIDIA.
