    Hi all!

I am a long time lurker on this forum and is contemplating getting a new laptop.

I currently have a T420s I have been happy with, but I have had some problems with overheating especially when I play football manager 2014.
That is about the only game I play, but thought that I might look for a new laptop with better specs and cooling.
I also do some small graphics work every now and then since I sell all kinds of products with print, but mainly I get graphics designer to do this for me.
I am also a bit of a multitasker so I run a fair bit of programs at the same time. Office tools, adobe illustrator, accouting software and a lot of tabs open in my browser.

I have been thinking about staying with Lenovo because of the build quality, although I have read not that great reviews on the newer models.

From what I could gather from my local Lenovo dealer ( I am based in Europe) the T540p and the W530 will get me the best bang for my bucks.

    T540p specs:

    i7-4700MQ 2,4, 16gb ddr, 256 ssd, 2880 x 1620 3k IPS, NVIDIA GT 730m 1gb, 4g modem/ LTE, 3 year warranty at €1995 ($ 2768)

    or W530

    i7-3740qm 2,7, 8gb ddr, 240 ssd, FHD 1920 x 1080 IPS, NVIDIA optimus quadro K2000m 2gb, 3 year warranty at €2499 ($3467)

    or W540

    i7-4900MQ 2,8, 8gb ddr, 512 ssd, FHD 2880 x 1620 3k IPS, NVIDIA optimus quadro K2100m 2gb, 3 year warranty at €3095 ($4294)

Another alternative is to go for the MacBook pro top model that retails for €2649 ($3675)

So far I am leaning towards the T540p, but would like to hear some input from more people and what they would recommend.

    Welcome to the forum!

I'd *strongly* suggest testing the new keyboard/TrackPoint setup as found on the *40 series in person before purchase. The change - whether one likes it or not - is drastic enough to warrant testing in person.

    Happy shopping.

I will go and try it for sure, before I make up my mind.

Any other thoughts about which model I should go for or other brands to take a look at?

Check out Dell Precision 3800/4800 and HP's ZBook.

    Good luck.
