I'm deciding between a t60, z61t, and a hp dv2000t. One thing about the t60 is it seems almost everyone here has the sxga over the xga ($50 option), is this an option worth upgrading. Anyone have the xga and are happy with it?

Well the sxga allows you to upgrade to a better graphics card. The font is smaller too. If you prefer larger font and dont need the bigger graphics card then xga is fine.

SXGA+ offers more screen 'real estate'. With smaller fonts and sizes, one can fit more data on the screen at one time. If you prefer larger, easier to read text, XGA is for you.

You will see more on SXGA+, but as noted some feel the text is too small.

Thanks ZaZ, those images are very helpful. (And especially enjoyable since I am getting a SXGA+.)

I have a 17" 1280x1024 LCD on my desktop and every time I use the desktop almost exclusively for a week I feel incredibly cramped on the 14.1" XGA screen on my laptop.

FWIW, our clients are pretty happy with the higher resolution screens, both desktop and laptop after we bump the text size up a little and set Windows to use large icons.

I like using Firefox with the bigger screen since I can just hit Ctrl-+ and Ctrl-- to bump the text size up and down on web pages, many of which have ridiculously small default font sizes, even on a 15" XGA LCD.
