Are T60 & T61 machines the only T series Thinkpads with the 4GB RAM capabilites? If so this is a + positive reason for purchasing a T60 or T61 or some previous T series ThinkPads

The R61 and T61 are the two that 4GB RAM capabilities. The T60 is not due to the BIOS limited.

So the "T"61 is the only "T Series" Thinkpad capable of 4GB of RAM. Outside of the T series, the R61 is capable and the X61 is capable. However, the only realistic way of using all 4GB with the 61 Series is with a 64-bit OS.

Are you sure about this? I only have 3GB of RAM in my 60p as I am only using Vista32 on that box (and only plan to use a 32bit OS), but I was certain when I received it (work PC) that 4GB was an option but not possible with XP/Vista32. This is the first I've heard of a BIOS limitation. Have a reference/link?

Well, not to sound curt... but it doesn't really matter so much what that says. This is something that has been tried out by many, beat to death on the thinkpads forum, and Lenovo has been confronted. That is the limitation. Unfortunate, but true.

Thanks, will check it out once the site is back up. Getting timeouts at the moment. Glad this is my work PC and not my personal pc.

It also says in the options, when you choose 4GB is that "the max is 3GB..."
