    Hi all

I have a T60 laptop that I would like to drive my plasma. The IBM version of the X1400 is tagged so that the standard X1400 driver from ATI won't work. The only 16:9 aspect supported is 1280x720, and the resolution of the display is 1366x768.

Is is possible to hack something together to force a new aspect ratio? I am wanting to do this either on the built-in VGA port or the docking station VGA/DVI ports.

    Thanks!

    Hi there,
If you tried to download the ATI Catalyst Mobility drivers from ATI's site, then that won't work as you found out. Take a look at the Driver Update Guide and there is a direct link to download the Catalyst drivers for notebooks - it should work for you.

Using the direct link bypasses the checking process. Alternatively, you could try the Omega 6.9 drivers (also talked about in the Guide).

About your TV problem - I don't think the X1400 supports above 1280x720. I could be mistaken though.

The Omega drivers support a much wider range of resolutions and aspect ratios that the ATI drivers. In my case I was looking for alternative 16 : 10 aspect ratios, but I expect that 16 : 9 combinations are support as well. i think the upper limit is is quite high.

I agree with the above poster... the omega drivers support much more resolutions. (I am not sure if it supports what your looking for but its worth a shot)

Thanks guys! I managed to do it up nice :)

I used a combination of the Omega drivers and Powerstrip to create a custom resolution and timing that fits my plasma display perfectly, way better than I expected!!

It took a bit of fiddling, but it looks aces now! Thanks for the tips :)
