My new T60 with Intel ABG connects at only 56K to my D-Link DI-624 wireless router. With a hard-wire connection to the router I get 100K. With my D-Link AirPlus DWL-G650 PCMCIA card the T60 gets 56K.
The problem - my 5 year old Fujitsu C2220 laptop gets 108K with the same D-Link card (same distance from the wireless point).
What am I doing wrong? I was going to order and change out to the Thinkpad wireless mini card but when I read the specs on it, they only claim 56K as the max rate.

The difference is the technology. The DWL-G650 is a super G card that connects at 108mb/sec. As for why when this card is in the T60 it only get 56, i don't know. But the ABG card built into the T60 will only get 54. Thats the speed limit for G wireless. A hardwire connection will run at 100 with that router. But unless you are doing massive file transfers you wouldn't notice the difference between the 108, 100, or 54. The internet will only be as fast as the modem you connect with. So if you have 1.5Mb DSL, you will only get 1.5 from the internet, even if you are getting 54/100/108 connection between the router and your computer.
