Hello guys, first of all, it's always been a pleasure to read in this forum, thanks for all the info!
Through your forum I've narrowed down my search to a 14" t60, which, unfortunately, in Germany won't be half as cheap as in the US, but oh well..
So, I've read many reviews on that notebook, everything sounds fine, the only thing is that I'm thinking about playing some games, I'll get the 1400x1050 with the x1400 Ati, but in a review (only one out of many, but still) I read that the screen wasn't responsive enough to play first person shooters, like HL2 or something.. or even to play dvds, that somehow concerns me.
I always thought that nowadays, almost all the notebook screens would be able to display that..
So just wanted to check in with all of you, sorry if this thread already exists, I didn't find it with the search option.
Thanks a lot!

The X1400 would have no problem playing HL2. I dont know about the screen though.

My T42 with the 9600 had no problems with HL2.

i will tell you about the screen -
I have the T60 with a 14.1" SXGA+ screen and ATI X1400. The video is every bit as fast as on a 1.5 year old Samsung SyncMaster 712N (the latter at 12ms response). I'd be willing to bet the T60 screen is under 12ms.

I've never played a FPS on my T60, maybe I'll try tonight or something and give a report. I've played Oblivion and Eve on it...Oblivion is pretty tough on the X1400, gotta turn stuff way down, but Eve works like a charm (Eve works on some pretty old hardware though). BTW, Oblivion is first person and I do think there is a little ghosting, not sure how much you'd notice playing a twitch game.

First of all, thanks for the quick replies!!

Yeah, that's true, but I don't want to get any heat issues, and the battery life is quite important to me, as I will be taking the notebook around with me, too.. I figured the x1400 would be enough.

Thank you, that would be a nice info! I'll be waiting for it!
pbdavey and 343453j4538i4 -- Thanks
The thing is that I don't need to have the super, 2ms display, I just want it to work without being annoying..
Mmh, i might just go into a retail store and ask them to play a dvd on it for me..
But, I'll be happy about any additional info you can give to me, thanks!!
