Dimension wise, do these two screen configurations have different dimension? I mean if the 14.1 screen only has a wider margin around the LCD than the 15".

I am thinking to get a T60, although I am still hesitate to completely give up on Dell D620 even many people have complainted about the bad screen. The T60 I saw at our university tech store kinda give me a weird feeling in terms of the appearance.

    Dimensions:
    14.1" screen config: 12.2" x 10.0" x 1.0-1.2" (width x depth x thickness)
    15" screen config: 13" x 10.6" x 1.2-1.4" (width x depth x thickness)
What kind of weird feeling did it give you? The T60 has a standard aspect ratio, versus the widescreen aspect of the D620. The T60 will look a lot more "square" than the Dell. For my usage, the 150 more vertical pixels you get with the IBM is more useful vs the 40 pixel gain horizontally on the Dell.

I find the 1050 of SXGA+ to be more usefull.

So the machine with 14.1" screen indeed is smaller. The reason I asked was because I saw a friend ordered a Dell D520 with 14.1" however exact the same machine could also be configured with a 15" screen. Thus her Dell has ugly wide margin around the LCD.

The weirdness I feel with T60 is I don't quite like the design of their touchpad and the mouse buttons, they aren't really as smooth as those on a Dell. I have a Latitude C640 and used for 3 years and love it.

If you get a thinkpad, chances are decent that you'll rarely use the touchpad or its mouse buttons. The trackpoint is much much better than a touchpad.
