I have ordered a T60 model 200762U and am quite confused about one part of the configuration. I've pasted the wireless information from ibm's site below. Does this come with 2 wifi cards, one being the Intel card and the other being the regular Thinkpad wifi card (Athenos I think) ? Anyone have any idea about this? No other model of T60 has a configuration like this on the ibm site, is it an error? Anyone out there own one of these models?

you definitely just have one wireless
maybe they're either options you didn't choose, or to do with special IBM software they have for managing wifi
don't worry, you just have one.

ThinkZ61 could you post the link you have of where you got that information? When I spoke to a rep when I bought the model he assured me it was an Intel card, but I didnt trust his answer at all. So without the intel card the laptop is not considered Centrino correct?

    Thanks

This sounds like false advertising to me on the ibm website where I placed my order. Do you think I could call up after receiving my order and complain? This obviously changes my overall opinion of this system if that pdf is correct. I must add I purchased this unit in Canada and not USA.

    Thanks

Yes you are right, without the Intel card the laptop won't be Centrino. As for complaining, you sure can do so but I doubt that will resolve any issue. If you ordered through Lenovo site, you should have 30 day return policy (at least that's what we have in USA, not sure about Canada).

Always refer to tabook, it contains the accurate information. Most of the time the sales rep also get the information from the website which might have typos.

By the way, Atheros card is as good as Intel card (according to some people it's better). You can try it out and if you don't like it just return the laptop.

The ibm/lenovo card supposedly gets better reception and has less problems than the intel card. I'd rather have it if I were you.

Any idea how the thinkpad wifi power consumption compares against the intel card?
