    T60 CPU soldered?

    I'm looking at buying a T60 and looking ahead to Merom. I have heard Merom are pin-compatible with Yonahs. So...if T60 isn't soldered, I could just pop out the Yonah and pop in the Merom. Same question for Z61m (looking at that too, but I'm not sure if the widescreen is worth moving up to 15.4" since the resolution isn't that much better (1680x1050 vs 1400x1050)). Need Emacs to check by parens there :D

    Yes, you are correct in theory.

    As to the CPUs, I haven't looked, but hardly anyone does this any longer, except in some of the very low end systems.

    No, the CPU is replaceable. Check the hardware manual.

    The question is whether the bios will support it....
