Has anybody else had a problem with the fan of their Lenovo laptop buzzing? I've heard that its cause by a wire that is loose and that you need to go in and secure it yourself. Has anybody had experience with this and can you post comments or suggestions on what to do to get my fan to stop buzzing?

maybe it's not fan but the CPU buzz? Try goin into your bios setup, and in power, disable the cpu power management (it is the second setting from the bottom i think, theres also pci express power management, try disabling that too if the first one doesn't stop it)

Well it comes from the left side of the computer, and when I tilt it for a brief second it goes away. IT does not sound like it is coming from the center at all.

    The CPU can buzz?

Yes most core Core Duo and Core 2 Duo CPUs buzz, some more than others. Do you notice that the buzz goes away when your laptop is doing something, like loading an application, doing something that makes CPU active?

Did you try the BIOS setup settings I suggested?

    back from the dead.

I had changed the BIOS settings like you suggested. However the buzz is still there, and it is distinctively coming from the left side when the fan is on. I'm gonna have to pop it open to see whats causing the fan to buzz. my guess is that it is up against a loose wire (as suggested elsewhere on this forum).

Or dust. I took apart my T60, and cleaned it really well -- no buzz.

Mine is pretty new, only a couple of months. When I opened it earlier, it was really clean inside.

Any tips for getting to the fan unit? I noticed that its a large metal unit, and that I will have to remove the casing that runs under the screen and along the sides of the keyboard. How do you get that off safely?
