I just got around to checking the parts list on the T60 flexview I ordered 6/29.

It looks like it shipped with recovery DVDs and I'm guessing a Vista Anytime upgrade

Came with a ALPS keyboard, which I'm happy with (never tried a NMB)
I didn't have the choice for bluetooth, so I didn't think it would have it, but does this mean it will?

Galt, Leon, and others that ordered recently, maybe you can compare...

Mine will arrive in a few days, so I'm going to guess on the following:

Bluetooth - I didn't have an option during ordering for Bluetooth either. But this line is there in my config:
    62P6054 VBB INTEGR.BLUETOOTH PAN
I think "VBB" means "doesn't come with", or rather "remove this item from the default config". I.e, default config has bluetooth, but mine will not.

Keyboard: I think I have the NMB
    42T3143 KEYBOARD FRU

Recovery Discs: I ordered mine with XP Home. There is no entry for recovery cd/dvd in my order details.

EDIT: On second thought, here's my full parts listing

Actually, take the serial number from the lenovo order status page and then go to parts lookup here

That will give you the actual FRU number which you can search google w/ or lookup the parts in the maintenance manual

    Thanks, I just did that.

Looks like keyboard is NMB for sure. And for bluetooth, I have the same entry as you do
    41W6707 0000000 SHELL TOP 15.0 SXGA+ IPS TFT, BLUETOOTH
No idea if that means it has bluetooth or not. =(

And no recovery dvds either. But that doesn't bother me =)

    Oh CRAP-

My story just keeps getting worse and worse (still fighting them overcharging me), because mine shipped yesterday- copied pn and sn into warranty/parts lookup:

Triple checked it. No clue why, but can't say I'm surprised about anything at this point.

I read a post somewhere where this happened to someone else. They couldn't find their laptop serial/model on the warranty/parts website.

That guy said he called up Lenovo, and they had it fixed the next day. He could then go to the website and see everything.

    I suggest you call them.

Leon, hopefully everything will be resolved soon!

Galt, I'd much rather try out your NMB keyboard then have recovery DVDs shipped :p XPP is the first thing I'm putting on anyway...

Ok, I emailed them about it. So hopefully it gets fixed. But I have to say whether I get discs, or have my keyboard of choice (Chicony) or otherwise is the LEAST of my worries at this point.

THey've submitted the "price match" lol as if paying the amount I checked out at is some type of request pending approval. Should be against the law.

Having thought a little more about it, I'm going to venture a guess that
    41W6707 0000000 SHELL TOP 15.0 SXGA+ IPS TFT, BLUETOOTH
actually refers to the actual lid/lcd casing itself (notice 'SHELL' wording). Which then means that there is room for it to accommodate bluetooth, but doesn't actually include it.

    Its akin to:

Laptop lid has ability to house a 15" ips display and bluletooth.

    *bluetooth sold separately

    SERIOUSLY?

I didn't even see it as an option when configuring, and I know I would have deselected it. So you automatically get BT?!

NICE. (though i'll never use it- only time i'd ever use bt on a notebook is w/a mouse if it lacked a trackpoint, NA here!)

    Yes it will have BT.

But hate the Alps. That's too bad. Much rather have the NMB or even the Chicony. We have heaps of alps keyboard here as castaways. The odd peron likes alps, but most hate them and it doesn't feel like a thinkpad keyboard imo

No problem tho... just cancel, and then re-order and re-check. Alternatively, you can buy an NMB keyboard and upgrade it yourself.

That's funny. No way is z60m and t60 keyboards interchangeable huh? Because I too have a z60m w/my keyboard of choice in it- but I don't even know what I have yet in my flexview.

Of course, for you, if you don't like your nmb it'd be easy to find someone to trade for an alps.

I dont know about you but I dont think any keyboard is capable of making a Z60m into a pleasant experience.

The great news is that you'll think your 15" flexview is small and light compared to the Z60m LOL (also the screen will be so much better).

You'll really like the improvements with your new one, i think :)

Yeah... the Z is a tank. My dad uses it, so it's mainly stationary so the weight issue wasn't a big deal. I loved my t60ws cept for the screen ;(...

    I actually like it, but yeah Z60m is a beast. ~225 in^3 vs 180 in^3 in the 15" t 60.

Only burn is, 15" t 60's lid is still plastic unlike 14.1" (magnesium). I think this is the reason my z's screen is out. How was the lid cover on your t60ws? Any stiffer than the Z?

Sorry, it is actually a z61m (whats the difference anyway?).

It has the titanium lid so it was quite strong. The lid cover on the t60ws was a bit flexible in the middle but quite sturdy. WS lid covers are a bit weaker...

I have tried Chicony, ALPS, NMB, and "new" Chicony (Chicony rebadged as NMB by IBM parts).

The new Chicony is an improvement over the old one, but it is still kind of soft and clackity. The NMB has a really nice feel, but the keys bottom out a little hard. The ALPS has the great feel of the NMB keyboard but with a slightly softer landing - I think it's perfect. Guess that makes me odd.

They finally uploaded my parts lookup... it's a chicony, so no need for swapping with the z60m.

Now if they just fix the glitch and charge me what I checked out at, I'll actually keep it. I've given them everything requested and then some- screenshot of order confirmation showing correct price, put together an independent quote of identical configuration with same price, and even got fatwallet to forward the transaction amount that lenovo sent them for cashback purposes, which also reflected the correct price. Trifecta of an airtight case, but nothing will surprise me at this point.

In the meantime, I'll just have to find the willpower to keep from breaking the seal just to get a look at FLEXVIEW!

    We fixed, the glitch.

Hmm we have a bunch of T60's with Chicony screens at IBM (14.1" 4:3 format) and I like them fine.

    No clicking.

But I have found that on the 15" format, the keyboard sounds a bit hollow in some places, i guess because in that larger form factor there is some empty spots underneath part of the keyboard.

As for the screen, dont worry, some of you sound like hypochondriacs LOL. It will be light-years better than the crappy T61 screens. I've used both, and compared them side by side, so believe me. .. I wish I owned a flexview, but they wont give me one because we only get 14" or 12" to work out of the office with. As for the screen being LG instead of IDTech (no longer exists), many ppl here *want* an LG haha

Received the Flexview today. I've ordered 3 t60 wides -- all came with crappy samsung panels (both WSXGA+ and WXGA). I haven't seen an LG which is suppose to be much better.

But the flexview is SO much better than my old t60 WSXGA+ samsung (as it should be). I'm amazed :D It's a good notch and a half brighter than my old panel. Whites are actually white (not grayish), and of course the viewing angles are amazing.

So far, I like the SXGA+ verticle space better than the WSXGA+ I had. I never did a lot of side by side windows so 4:3 is better for me. It's been three weeks since I sold my T60, so in the meantime I was using an old 15.4 XGA toshiba -- my eyes are still adjusting again to the high resolution, but the pixels per inch is very pleasing.

I don't like the speaker placement on the 15" 4:3 vs the 15.4 WS. But I will use headphones mostly so not a big deal.

Vista of course is always bogging down, so installing ubuntu and XPP will be the first thing I do tomorrow.

It's been 3 weeks, but this t60 doesn't feel any heavier than my t60 ws. It is a bit thicker. As previously stated, the 4:3 screen is very strong, I can't make any ripples (t60ws I could).

Although the parts list showed a recovery DVD, there wasn't any. Also, the ALPS feels just like my old one so I'm happy. Also, it shipped w/ vista so the windows key is updated.

Thinkpad A/B/G definately gets better reception than my old Intel did.

It's been running on my lap, and doesn't seem any wammer than my t60ws, in fact it is hardly warm at all.

All in all, I am very glad I sold my t60 ws and got the flexview. I doubt I will return this for a t61 SXGA+. :D

    I'm in love!

EDIT: Now, I just have to decide on a warranty. 3-4 year depot warrenty, or 3 year accidental warranty. Two years of college left leave me leaning towards the accidental...

EDIT: The only other thing I've noticed is a creaky bezel left of the keyboard. Right is fine, but left needs to be reseated and it should quit creaking...

EDIT: I am much happier with the Thinkpad Wireless... Intel was always dropping/reconnection... Hasn't happened once yet :D

Yeah, I was going crazy today. Yesterday the UPS man came by our sub division at 11:45am, so I was waiting this morning. I had to be somewhere at 4:30pm. I just was leaving at 4:20pm when he pulled in! Just in the nick of time.

Wow :D you are going to love it. The keyboard/trackpoint was the most missed while I was w/o a thinkpad since June 24th :(

Yea, the wait is driving me crazy.
It took Lenovo just 4 days for my order to be built and shipped to Southern California.
But the the men in brown shorts are totally screwing it up.

    Still not delivered?

UPS is taking a bit longer with delivery of this one than they did with my 61, which actually came early. 60 looks like it will be at least a day late, judging by when it hit kentucky.

Not that I can even OPEN it when it gets here, at least not until I SEE the $270 they say has been credited back. Have this confirmed in an email, so I'm not as worried about it now. I'll feel better when this is all over.

Too bad about the creak chadwick- is it at least as solid as the z 61m? My z60 is a flexer, can't see it being worse than it. At least the display delivers. I can't believe you were 3/3 on getting samsung panels. You were due some good luck.

EDIT- lol I just checked again and somehow it's on schedule again. They must have teleported it here from KY.

    Just got mine (finally).
Perfectly assembled - no creaking, even gaps all around.
It came with a 512MB stick. Took it out and put 3GB in without even turning the machine on.
The laptop also came without the recovery DVD.
    What's up with that?
The FlexView screen looks real nice for a notebook display.
    Unbelievable viewing angles, nice colors.

It's not as bright as I've expected it to be though.
But can't say for sure since I don't have another laptop at the moment to compare against.
And I'm still playing with the settings.
What realy strange though, that the brightness adjustment scale is extremely limited.
    Only 5 bars.
The laptops fan is very quiet, barely can hear it when it runs full blast while running intensive tasks.
It got pretty warm under high CPU load. (on the bottom where the processor is).
The rest of the notebook stayed cool.
The right palm rest gets just barely warm, no complaints here (100GB 7200 rpm HD).
