    Hello all,

My T60 arrived couple days ago and it's a nice machine, I can see using it for the next few years to come, so I am planning on getting more ram into the machine.

I currently have 1x1GB in there, and I saw this thread

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=121363

I want to upgrade to 4gb and before I pull the trigger, I did a quick check on T60 datasheet and it reads

    Code:
    Memory
Up to 2GB PC2-5300/667MHz or up to 4GB
    PC2-4200/533MHz

So does it mean my only option here is another 1GB stick, unless I switch to PC2-4200 ?

I did a search, but I can't find the answer to this, however I do see from the signature of other members that 3gb are being used.

By the way I have Vista Business 32bit.

    Thank you!

As far as I know you can put 4GB of 667mhz (or 533mhz) memory in there. Problem is, 1GB is wasted due to the fact that the intel 945 chipset reserves the final GB for addressing other stuff, so in effect you only have 3GB. I'd go with another 1GB stick to maintain dual channel operation.

Great! Thanks for the info! I guess I will go with another 1gb for now.

I was looking into this today as well. What about adding a 2gb stick in addition to my 1gb stick? Will this be fine as long as I get the same speed ram?
