    T60/R60 Digital Audio? ( AD1981HD )

    The Personal Systems reference (tabook.pdf) for Jan 2007 lists the T60 and R60 as having High Def Audio and the AD1981HD codec.

    Does this mean they can output in S/PDIF (digital coax)?

    Certainly not a deal-breaker (I'm leaning heavily towards the R60), but I'm never sure what "high def audio" means in a laptop.

    But it can't be pulled off the laptop itself, like out of the headphone jack?

    nope. I have the T60p however, and I record CDs, and the built-in sound is great for recording.

    Just to clarify

    The only way to get surround sound out of my R60 would be to either get the advanced dock that has the spdif or buy a sound card? The headphone jack can only output in stereo? Thanks
