    Hi,
I have been using my T60 (T2400 1.83, 1Gb) for about 6 mths now and have been thoroughly unimpressed with the computers general speed and also with the unreliability with the Thinkvantage software. Therefore I am planning on doing a reinstall and then remove all unneccessary Thinkvantage software (and recovery partition which I have never used), which I suspect may be to blame. Has anyone else found similar problems and if so what Thinkvantage stuff did they remove, or leave etc?
    Many Thanks
    Colum
-Apologies if this issue has been answered elsewhere, I tried some quick searches on this forum but could not find anything similar.

Howard Johnson is right, anecdotally a friend of mine (who isn't the brightest sheep in the condo it must be said, having crippled his thinkpad with spyware), did seem to have issues with windows restore being interrupted by the thinkvantage restore.

I have not found any problems removing any of the ThinkVantage software. For my T60 I removed everything except for System Update, ThinkPad Configuration, EasyEject, Power Manager, UltraNav, Access Connections, and I think that's it. I have not tried using System Restore, becuase I use Acronis True Image for my reformatting needs.

A faster hard drive will help. You could disable them using MSCONFIG or uninstalling them as opposed to doing a clean install.
