Okay so I got this T60 for free. I get no video on the internal LCD, displays externally fine. The previous owner kinda made a mess replacing the inverter (didn't work anyway). So on Ebay there is a 14" SXGA+ panel with everything, hinge top cover, LVDS cable, WLAN antennae for 50 bucks + 10 shipped. Would it just be a straight swap? It's still 4:3, new LVDS cable so I wouldn't use my re-existing one?
My T60 is Type 1953-E4U

It should be a straight swap as far the the parts are concerned. You may lose bluetooth if the new LCD doesn't have it. You might want to take a look at the connections. If they didn't know what they were doing, something may be amiss and it does not cost anything.

Okay thanks, but had I just bought the panel I would need a new LVDS cable?

Not unless it's broken.

I know certain LVDS cables aren't the full 40 pin, so they won't support XX resolution, but the one I was looking at includes it. Thanks!

The cable is the same regardless of the resolution on the T60, but there is two cables - one with and without the bluetooth connector. That's why I said you may lose it if the LCD housing you bought did not have. It seems yours does.

Did you check the display cable? I remember I had an old Thinkpad R32 and when I got it, the display wouldn't do anything nor would the status lights. Turns out the display cable had become disconnected somehow.

Well the thing is there is no backlight, so likely it is a bad LCD as well, and there is a SXGA+ panel with cable, WLAN cables, basically the whole LCD module for 50 + shipping...not going to bother playing duck duck goose with LCD stuff.
