So after some initial trouble in receiving the wrong part, I finally got 1400x1050 screen installed on my T60. I've noticed that it's not as bright as the 1024x768 and that the backlighting seems to be more yellowed in nature. I've seen other 1400x1050 Thinkpad screens and they looked about the same. Is this somewhat true across the board for these higher res screens?
Also, would it be worthwhile to try to sell the 1024x768 screen, or would it be better to just keep it as a spare?
Thanks,
D
P.S. It's a 14" model so it's not an IPS screen

I don't know... I'm not too familiar with which suppliers produced the 1400x1050 14" screens for the T60, but at least my dad's T60 (with that high-res panel) doesn't seem to have that issue. In fact, I'd say his backlight is a bit too harsh and the panel's blues are too strong.

In theory, the TMD 14.1" display is the best, but as you noted, in practice there seems to be little difference.

So can anyone confirm that the 1400 14" screens are less bright and less white than the 1024 screens?

One other display issue. Every time I install the ATI Catalyst Control center, it says it installs successfully, but it's just not there. There's no ATI icon on the taskbar, no ATI icon in the Start Menu--nothing. I'm using the Windows 7 T60 ATI catalyst software from Lenovo's site. I was hoping that I could use it to tweak the colors on this display, but no dice.
Any ideas why it won't install? -
I believe all of the displays are 150 nits. There can be some variance in panels. Was it a new screen?

try to adjust the gamma, also was this panel a new one?
For SXGA+ screen 14.1 inch model, the perceived brightness can be slightly lower than that of the XGA. In terms of colour and yellow shift, this depends on the panel make. Did you happen to have a Samsung panel? -

It was a used screen. The housing and hinges appeared to be in excellent shape as if they had not seen a lot of use. But maybe the screen itself had been swapped previously?
Not sure if it's a Samsung panel. Not sure how I'd tell.
I'd like to adjust the gamma, but I have no controls for it. For some reason when I install the ATI Catalyst Control Center, it's just not there. -
install HWinfo32, you can get the parts no. of the LCD.

The screen is no longer installed as there was nothing I could do to correct the colors without the ATI control panel. -
The 13N7062 corresponds to the TMD-Toshiba LCD, which the following spec.

The current screen is listed as Lenovo B141XG09/HT14X1B-202/LTD141ECMB/LTN141XA-L01. Is that suppose to be the same brightness?

Looks like, according to that Thinkwiki link, it's suppose to be 150nits, too. But the 1400x1050 screen isn't nearly as bright. And its white are rather off-white.

Your second hand LCD may have been used for a while.

That's my guess. It was advertised as a pull from a like-new laptop, but I don't think that's the case. I'm returning it and sticking with XGA.
