Do all T60 or T61 notebooks include a "security chip"?

My T60 keeps asking me if I want to activate the security chip. I don't even know what it is, but I assume for one thing it would support disk encryption. Running Vista Business.

This system is already slow enough, so I have no intentions of activating this security feature, but do many people on this forum use it and recommend it?

Also, if I do a clean install, will I lose access to this feature?

No, because you can reinstall ThinkVantage apps if needed (although not suggested that you do so).

System will be super-fast after clean install by the way.

    :D.

Client Security is what controls the the the TPM chip. If you dump it, it won't ask you again though I thought there was a way to tell it not to ask you again. It's been a while since I've used it.
