Hi all. I have a new T60 15.4'' wide screen, and noticed that the palm rests are not quite as solid as I had expected. The left palm rest flexes a little bit under pressure, whereas the right palm rest creaks a little bit under pressure (such as when I rest my palms to type), though doesn't seem to flex. Is this normal or should I be concerned about it? My old T40 never creaked when I applied pressure. Is there any risk of damaging the internal parts of the computer by putting pressure on a creaking/flexing palm rest?

    Thanks for the help all.

I guess it is a production fault. IBM isnt anymore what it used to be I guess :( I have no experience with the T60 but hopefully some other members can help you out.

    Check out this review: http://lenovoreview.com/2007/01/08/thinkpad-t60p-review/

I guess they have the same problem.

Thank you for the response. It is reassuring to see that I'm not the only one to have noticed this. To be more specific, there is flexing/creaking on the left palmrest right near the Centrino sticker (above the card slot). On the right palmrest, there is creaking when pressure is applied to the very front, on the plastic that slopes down. Should I be concerned or is this not a problem? Thanks all.

I have exactly the same issue you have described, but I am not concerned about that. I have used two T60ws and both of them had this issue.
I think it's a design flaw of the whole T60ws line. But remember, there's no perfect notebook out there, any notebook in the market has some kind of flaws.

A very fair point. I am guilty of being hyper-critical of a new computer I suppose. Thanks for the response :)

I have also noticed this on mine. But, I mean, as hotboy said, there is no such thing as a perfect notebook. Every laptop has its flaws. Like, for me, the infrared port in the front, whatever kind of plastic glossy shield that is covering it is slightly chipped. It is barely visible, but I know it is there. =[
