Hi, I just got a T60 with the 1year warranty.

I read through the manual, and it doesn't seem as if there are any mentioning of registration, but just to confirm:

    - do i need to register with lenovo/ibm in order for my 1 year warranty to take in effect? I know i've had previous electronics where I had to do it...but how about with a T60?

    Thanks

ThinkPad warranties are unlike other notebooks. Registration is not required. They follow the machine and not the buyer. You can look look up your warranty status here.

I read that i "might" have to register the product and send proof of purchase to be able to use my warranty.
Does it say the same in your "Service and warranty" booklet under chapter 2 part 1?

"Hvis kunden ikke registerer Maskinen hos Lenovo, må kunden kanskje fremlegge ett kjØpsbevis som bekreftelse på retten til garantiservice.

    Translated:

If the customer does not register the machine to Lenovo, the customer might have to provide proof of purchase as confirmation to the right to warranty services.

    Regards

In the US registration is not required. You can certainly call if you want. Theres no penalty. Always a good idea to hang onto your receipt.
