after waiting and waiting... and then waiting and waiting some more for the z61m shells to come in. I gave up and went with the T60 widescreen, which was in stock at Cost Central. I ordered it and am receiving it next day.
    specs: t7200, 80GB, GMA shared (oh well), 1GB RAM, cd-rw, wsxga+, 3yr warranty
price $1600 shipped overnight (only $60 more than my spec'd z61m). I've researched this machine tirelessly and decided that the webcam and firewire ports were the only features I would lose from the z61m. If needed, I can get a pc card for the firewire port. In addition, I will probably love the lighter machine for years to come.

Standy for a full assessment of the T60 widescreen after I receive it. I appreciate all of the input from registers users in this forum. I have learned a great deal from these threads and hope to contribute a quality report from a first time IBM/Lenovo user tomorrow.

I am waiting on this machine, which should be delivered Tuesday (I bought it through the Discover Card EPP program) - it should be a huge improvement on my crappy Dell 600m, which has taken to dropping my wireless connection every few minutes and is generally about as robustly built as a Kleenex box.
