Hi I woud like to replace the hard drive in my t60. The current drive is a 80gig 5400 rpm. I would like to replace it with a 7200rpm 100gig. My motervation is improve speed/axcess times.

How differcult is it to replace? what Items will I need?

Newegg offers seagate and hitachi which seem to be the leaders. Should I prefer one over the other?

It is not difficult to replace. The Hitachi is the recognized performance champ at the moment.

Basically you only need a screwdriver in order to replace your harddrive. I have a Hitachi 100 GB hard drive which spins at 7200RPM in my T60. It works perfectly. The only times you'll hear it is when it reads/writes. I would consider upgrading to 160 GB or maybe 200 GB. A 20 GB jump isn't that much.
