For some reason, my T60's fan refuses to stay at the lowest setting even when the CPU is doing practically nothing.

I'm using lowest CPU setting in the power manager. The weird thing is, if I make two copies of my power management profile, I can sometimes force the fan to spin at the lowest setting by the profile back and forth.

Also, every so often, the screen flickers :-/ I made sure it isn't caused by power management's changing refresh rates.

Finally, I noticed the left side of the case is bent a little bit. Not what I expected from a Thinkpad.

Is the bent part around the screen towards the bottom almost by the hinge area? Screen flicker is probably caused from the ATI powerplay settings that can move the speed settings around a bit.

The bent part is on the main part of the case (not the screen/lid). The left side is not flush- it caves downwards by about 1mm near the VGA port. When I close the lid, I can see the cave in because the lid is completely straight compared to the main part.

I think I have the latest BIOS, it is the one dated 12/12 on Lenovo's website. Version 2.07.

Is there any software solution to this? Here is what I noticed:
    1. The notebook runs very cool. The fan speed up is unneccessary.
    2. Notebook hardware control doesn't help; SpeedFan does not even see the fan, much less let me control them manually.
    3. If I switch power profiles, the fan will always slow down to minimum for a short time. It is too much of a hassle to do it constantly.

I have sort of the same problem. I have T60 2007-FUG and can't throttle the cpu under about 1 GHz which would help with the fan going on and off every 5 minutes. So can someone help me to either change the temp that the fan goes on or to throttle the CPU frequency down more on XP Pro. I tried from the power manager and 'lowest' and 'low' settings don't have any difference. I now get only 1,8 GHz and about 1 GHz.
