My good ole T60p got rained on during the recent storm and has passed away - a perfect excuse to upgrade to T400/T500Still, I plan on trying to salvage as much as I can from T60. I am wondering if I get the cheapest option for the optical drive and swap it with the DVD RW drive I have in T60? I don't have the model number, on my old order it says CTO 8X MAX DUAL LAYER DVD RECORDABLE ULTRABAY SLIM DRIVE (component 41N8358).
Thanks so much!

T400/T500 has a 9.5mm SATA optical drive interface.
T60 has a PATA optical drive drive interface.
Can use the T60 optical drive as an external USB unit using appropriate enclosure/adapter. Could work out quite well. Means you can do a SSD+HDD setup on the T400/T500 as shown here. -
Ah, too bad, another quick question about the battery - I got the 9 cell in T60 (component 40Y6798). When I search for batteries on lenovo accessories site, it brings it up for T60 but brings a different one up for T400 (43R2499), however it does not say that it is specifically for T400. They both are the same price, but looks like they have different dimentions. I guess that means that I can't use my old battery, or am I missing something?
Thanks again!
T60 optical drive compatibility with T400/T500?
