    OK, I'm torn...

I have the choice of the T60 or the Z60t for roughly the same price ($1079 vs. $1099) but can't decide.

The big issues for me are Durability, battery life, weight. I tend to open a lot of windows, but usually just firefox, word, email etc. Not a gamer unless it's abandonware,

I'm a student going to Singapore so heat is an issue. I am also picky about noise so noise is important.

Is the core duo/pentium m difference going to make a big impact on the battery life?

is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 vs 950 a big difference (battery and quality wise) - I dont need the aero glass fancyness of vista any time soon...plain old non-transparent stuff is fine for me.

    Is a 6 cell T60 battery going to last longer/same length/shorter than a 7 cell Z60t? Approx time??

What is the build quality like on the two?

    The exact config numbers are
    Model name 1953D6U
    Description ThinkPad T60 (TopSeller Program)
    Web Price* $1,349.00

    Model name 2511HAU
    Description ThinkPad Z60t (TopSeller Program)
    Web Price* $1,499.00

    Thanks a bunch folks.

The Core Duo/Pentium M difference isn't going to make a big difference on battery life, however, performance-wise, the gap is rather large. With the Core Duo coming out the victor.

Not a big difference, as far as I know they only added the ability to run AeroGlass on the GMA 950.

You should be able to find that in the reviews, if you haven't by the nesxt time I check this thread I'll look them up and post them.

Both have excellent quality, pretty comparable.

I'd get the T60 for the Core Duo CPU myself.

    I'm a little confused...yet again

the T60 reviews for 14 inch range from 3.5-5.1 hours
the z60t reviews say anywhere from 2.5-4.5 hours.

is a 2 hour varience on both models sound right??

performance is going to be wash since you're not a gamer so you don't need a gpu. I've been personally weighing the same decision and have decided to wait for a z61t. I think that's going to be perfect for me.

Probably, it's showing highs (low screen brightness, wifi off, minimal use) and the lows (very intensive multitasking).

Twill, look at some of the CNET.com reviews of the T60. They show they T60 always coming out on top when they compare the battery life of the T60 to the z60(t) both using standard batteries.

Personally would opt for the T60 as it is the latest and greatest. The new Z60 should be announced soon. Supply at fiirst is always an issue.

    Thanks guys,

I was noticing the T60 generally came out on top, the question was always, by how much.

I'm eager to see what the z61 battery life looks like, but I agree, the t60 does seem to be the way to go if I dont need the widescreen or the titanium (and who needs titanium anyhoo? :) )

    Thanks again
