So I have had Ubuntu and XP dual-booting on my XP for about a year now. Everything was working fine until yesterday when I decided to use TP's System Update to flash my BIOS, upgrade Rescue and Recovery, etc. Usually when I boot up, GRUB gives me the option of choosing between Ubuntu, Ubuntu Recovery Mode, Win XP, and Win NT 2000. Now when I boot up a single word GRUB appears with the cursor blinking continuously. I can't get pass this screen even if I try booting into R&R. I'm currently out of the country (in Vietnam now to be exact) so I don't have any backup CD with me. I was wondering if there's a place I could download/buy the recovery CDs/DVDs online? I'm downloading Knoppix, hoping that it would get me into the system and somehow let me do system restore. I'm favoring resetting my laptop back to its factory setting since i don't actually use Ubuntu that much. Any idea would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Try reinstalling GRUB to the MBR and disk using the Knoppix CD. It's likely that the System Update overwrote it.
