I replaced the original screen on my T60 15 widescreen about 6 months ago with a OEM LG WXGA+ screen. It worked great for a while. I noticed a "crack" or something on the top near the thinklight, but it was easy to ignore.

My husband borrowed my computer to watch some movies and suddenly, the crack is larger and the screen is so dim I can barely see anything. The crack looks like a jagged line in the pixels with some green little bursts along the line.

Do I just go buy another OEM or other brand screen and replace again? Anything else I can do hardware or software? I am a newbie, so specific details would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I think you're going to have to replace the screen. My T61 showed the same dimming while it was under warranty, the display was replaced and everything is ok now.

The panel is defective if its cracking, it's not something that is easily repairable so you need to replace the whole screen again unfortunately.

I would stick with the OEM panels as Lenovo implemented some hardware ID on their screens, anything else and there maybe a risk that it won't show anything on the screen when booting up.
