I recently received my T60 with and Intel Pro 3945 wireless card. The system is Vista OS. I notice very slow performance with the card after trying to download program files from the web. With my Dell Latitude I am able to download at around 200-500 KB/sec, but best I can do with the 3945 is between 6-20KB/sec, worst than dial-up!!! Unusable.

I have tried various configurations, turned off firewalls, anti-virus etc. I am using the current driver 10.6.0.46.

I have called tech support but they have no solution except to re-image the disk which I do not think will solve this issue. I think its the 3945 card as opposite to a software issue. I may be looking at returning the system.

I love the system, but this download speed issue is a show stopper.

Has anyone had a similar problem and possible resolution.

I've noticed things seem to run better when Symantec is dumped, but that would leave you without a firewall other than Windows of course.

I don't think Intel 3945 card is the problem. I am getting very good download speed out of it (over 500K Bittorrent download).

Does it has anything to do with the BT program you are using?

I have done additional test today and found out that I can get to 200-600KB/sec thru-put. So now I know the card does works ok and that Norton 360 is not interfering, too much anyways. However there are sites that I cannot get pass 20KB/sec. I am now thinking that performance has to do more with the way Vista is handling the net traffic. I have read in various forums that are net performance issues with Vista. I will be updating my Linksys WRT54G firmware to see if that helps, this has been suggested to me to do.

There is a new driver for the Intel Wireless Pro v11.1.1.11. But this did not help my problem.

There doesn't seem to be any noticeable changes in those new drivers. :(

I updated my Linksys WRT54G firmware to 4.21.1 and the downloads now work much better but not perfect. You take what you can get.
