I suddenly find that both the trackpoint and touchpad are not functioning. they are set to Automatic in the BIOS but the UltraNav shows them grayed out.

    History:
I had recently installed the system update "systemupdate314-2008-5-15.exe" when I had this problem (the key board also had stopped responding). The problem persisted but got rectified after a few restarts. But it now recurs again (though the keyboard is fine).
I also had recently removed the palmrest and tightened the touchpad connection when it had stopped working. It was fine till recently.
Can you please suggest a remedy.. :(
