I was in the market for the Asus WJ3, but the battery life of the machine is around 2 - 2.5 hours, plus the screen, 14" WXGA (1280 x 800), was kinda dissapointing. SO I looked for an alternative.

After reading lost of reviews, that most of the time just quote IBM's press report, I found out that the T60 series is what I am looking for.

On notebookreview I found the most usefull info. And there's one thing that's kinda vague to me, which is the battery life.

This PCMag articele gave the T60 with Ati X1400, and 9cell battery, a battery life of 5+ hours.

This review of the T60p with the 9cell bat. and the Ati FireGL V5200 only has 2.5 hours.

And to make it more complecated. This gives it 3hours 45min battery life. Which is the X1400 and the 9cell.

Ok I dont get it. If there are any T60(p) users, would they please post their battery scores. Cuz the above info doesnt make it any clearer.

Would it be a valid conclusion if I said that the FireGL draws lots of batterylife, so much it costs you 1-2 hours?

And another thing. IN the Netherlands I would have to pay 3500 euro's which is I guess 3100 USD, for the T60p, whilst it is almost the same as the T60. So again the FireGL rears its ugly head and boosts up the price. Is this true?

    Any input appreciated.

What the user is doing will have a big effect on battery life. My best guess is that it will go over five hours with the nine cell and 14" screen.

I have just purchased a T60 with a 14" sxga screen and the x1300 card and I have to say that I am not seeing anything like 5+hours of battery time. Now, perhaps this could be achieved with wi-fi off and the screen completely dimmed out, but in rality the screen is well nigh unreadable at minimal brightness and I tend to use the wi-fi, so... I'm seeing in the range of 2.5 - 3 hrs given how I use it - surfing sitting on my roof deck for example. That said it is still a pretty kickin' laptop.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Well the posted battery times dont dissapoint, and all users were running full brightness.

One user said he had an extra bay-battery. Is this a hot-swapable battery that you can use instead of a DVDplayer or extra HDD? So you would be able to have two batteries in the machine at the same time?

    Another question concerning battery:

Does the 9 cell battery hang out the back of the laptop on the 15" model?

My 9-cell also hangs out the back. It's not big. It's just thin and about 8" long. The performance increase over the 6 cell is huge.
