    Hey guys.

I'm asking another screen question :) - I'm about to invest a huge amount of money in a new machine - so please understand my hesitation and anxiety!

I found an actual real (not online) shop that sells the N100 which has the glossy Vibraview WXGA screen, which I really liked the looks of.

I want a T60 though, how much worse would a T60 non flexview screen be? Viewing angles aren't a HUGE factor to me but brightness, colour and contrast are. I don't know what the nits is for the N100, so far the only difference I know is the N100 has a gloosy screen whereas obviously the Thinkpad does not.

There are no shops where I live that have Thinkpads on display and Lenovo say getting a demo model to me might take weeks or months.

The T60 I am most likely getting is here: http://www5.pc.ibm.com/europe/products.nsf/$wwwPartNumLookup/_UO1HCxx?OpenDocument#wd

That's pretty much the best spec'd Thinkpad I can afford.

Does anyone know how that screen would compare to the N100 and for example an Acer Travelmate 4222 or 4402/3.

I'm trying to get a general feel for what my T60 will most likely look like, I'm hopefully arranging to go see someone's Thinkpad but this might not happen.

    Thanks!

I can't give you an accurate price in US dollars.

The N100 was about R11,000 and the T60 I mentioned is about R14,000...

Well, if you don't mind the extra R3,000 (is that Rubble?), I would definitely get the T60.

There are 2 suppliers for the T60 15.4" wide screen, one is LG, one is Samsung. People on this board generally prefer the LG screen (more vibrant colors).

All non S-IPS screens have poor viewing angles. But I would venture to guess that a glossy TN screen (the one on the N100) probably has better color and contrast than the matte TN screen (the one on the T60, even the LG one).

Another thing to keep in mind is what kind of warranty service Lenovo provides in your country? The terms and conditions of the warranty coverage might be different for the N100 and the T60.

One last thing, Vista needs at leas 2GB of RAM to run smoothly.

    Thanks.

"Rubble" ? LOL, no it's South African Rands hehe, but it's pretty much rubbish! (rubble) sorry, still laughing, that's a very punny term with irony to boot! :)

IBM have a branch in the town I live and they handle Lenovo repairs and warranty here which is good news.

I'll upgrade the ram to 2GB later on, I hate Vista! :) XP and Ubuntu are my primary needs right now.

Anyways, I still think the T60 is nicer than the N100. The T60 has a better graphics card, has the internal magnesium roll cage, etc.

But the matte screen wont be as vibrant as the glossy screen, that's for sure.

Yeah - the screen doesn't have to be perfect, I have a 2 year old Viewsonic matt LCD which is stunning.. my current Acer's screen (yuk) just looks very hazy and it strains the ol' eyes.
