    Hi All:

I'm in the market for a new computer and I was originally thinking of a macbook or macbook pro. As much as I love apple's stuff I think I can get more computer for the dollar with my friend's EPP IBM discount. I'm a grad student and really just a consumer level user (I don't need a dedicated graphics card), but I would like something I can transport around campus and still have perform really well and reliably.

I like the T60 but it's just so unsexy. I like the Z61m, but is it going to be too heavy to carry around in a messenger bag a couple times a week? So here's my question: if I get the titantium z61t am I going to regret not getting the z61m or the T60 for some reason?

The only reason I would buy a T60 or Z61m over a Z61t is if I needed a dedicated graphics card. The Z61t is lighter then both of them and the widescreen format makes it really slim to carry around. The Z61t looks better then the other 2 also...titanium lid...(my opinion). The z61m is really a brick in disguise so be aware ;).

bman22 is right... Z61m is a brick... and that is why i am gonna get one

i like the T60 14inchers since it is thin...

Z61t for me is just right in the middle of those two...

The T60 offers a higher resolution screen than the Z61t. That would be one reason to opt for it. They look pretty similar to me, but the titanium lid on the Z does add a bit of style.

If you don't intend to run any recent games or 3D applications, then the Z61t is an excellent all-around laptop. Its powerful enough, lightweight, durable, and big enough for everyday typing.

Good luck on your purchase :)

Thanks for all this info everybody. I think I'm going to go for the z61t titanium; although I did just see the posting about the z61p....the "p" is probably overkill for my needs though.

Quick question about buying the z61t (or z61p for that matter). I'm planning on buying online through the EPP store, but I live in a state that has a tax-free weekend for educational purchases in August. Am I going to have any luck getting the tax-break buying online through the EPP store? I talked to a Lenovo sales rep and he said I won't have to do anything special to get the tax exemption - just get online, buy the thing, and Lenovo will automatically know to exempt the tax, and take care of the rest. Anybody have any luck with this?

Yeah the Z61t is a great laptop. The Z61p is more like the Z61m anyways since it has a 15.4" screen.
