The base T60 with Vista seems to be god-awful slow (87 processes from bootup) does anyone have a comprehensive list of what is good to uninstall/stop/disallow from running to get this machine running at a reasonable speed?
-
I do not have windows Vista on mine, but personally all I think you really need, if you want to have just the bare minimum would be
-ThinkVantage productivity Center
- Power manager
- System update
everything else either Windows has their own alternative for (Access Connections -> Windows built in Wireless, for example)
If you want to ask me anything else about the software let me know.
Keep in mind Client Security Solution / Rescue and Recovery are meant for the general consumer. if you do not have any other third party applications to perform similar tasks then I'd suggest keeping these installed. -
What does the Productivity Center do exactly?
And what does Client Security Solution do? -
Client Security Solution - Lenovo website
Use Google.

Productivity Center is what allows you to have a nice customizeable menu that pops up when you press the ThinkVantage button - shortcuts to Thinkvantage Technologies like the System update, etc.
CSS is security - I believe it consists of Norton Internet Security, Norton Antivirus Corporate edition, and other software that I do not know exactly. It does consist of software for the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chip that is inside all laptops and for the fingerprint reader (optional).
I am sorry i cannot provide any more details - I uninstalled CSS the moment I got my T60. -

Oh ok. Whoops. Sorry. I blame my rapid uninstallation of almost everything when i got my T60 for the inconsistency
