I noticed that, when on AC power, in the system properties window (that is reached by right-click on my computer) the processor frequency is always 979 Mhz no matter what power profile I use. My processor is 1.66 Ghz. Please see this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=120257 (from the 5-th reply) which I started on the Windows OS and Software forum and reply there.

If any of you have a T60 please make this experiment: plug the laptop without the battery to the power supply, in Windows press Fn+F3 and set the power profile to Maximum Performance, then right-click on My Computer and see what is the current clock speed of your CPU. For example in the picture I attached it shows that I have a 1.66 Ghz CPU wich now runs at 979 Mhz which is not normal. Also tell me what version of BIOS you have installed.

Come on, PLEASE will somebody make the test and tell me if their core 2 duo processor runs at full speed on ac power with the battery unmounted?
At least I would know if it's a problem with my laptop or it's normal behavior.
-
It's the speedstep, it underclocks when there is no need to.It's the same on my laptop [mine is Core Duo though] it's usually clocked at 1.66, run some intensive task like Orthos and then using NHC (Notebook Hardware Control) measure the Core Clock and the Multiplier.
-
The problem is that when on AC power with the battery unmounted the processor remains underclocked no matter what power profile I apply or how much I stress it.
When it's on AC power with the battery mounted or only on battery it works perfectly normal and steps the cpu clock how it should.
Please somebody make that test. -
Did you try using NHC to watch the clock speed ?
-
I watched the speed with CPU-Z.

So many T60 users here and nobody wants to give a little help

It seems that I have the same problem like this guy: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64948
His problem was fixed with a BIOS update for the X60.
Unfortunately the latest T60 BIOS update doesn't solve my problem.
Does anybody know how can I report this problem to IBM? -
Notebook Hardware Control is a wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!
I decided to give it a try, I set the power profile to Maximum Performance and the wonder happened: the cpu went to 1.66GHz on AC without the battery in.
Thank you Manfred Jaider! And also thank you mujtaba for telling me about the program!
