Hi Guys. I'm looking at purchasing a T60 with a 14.1" or 15" XGA (1024x768) screen. I can't seem to find much info on it's brightness / contrast only that it's 150 nits. All the reviews have the hires screen with the IPS technology.
I'm interested in buying a Thinkpad but my eyes cannot handle some of these insane resolutions on such a small screen size!
But I'm concerned the XGA screen will be extremely dull. At home I have a 19" Viewsonic VP191b, rated about 250nits which is superb on my eyes.
So if anyone here has a 14.1/15" XGA T60 and can talk about the brightness/contrast/colour I'd really appreciate it, I'm struggling to find shops near my hometown that have demo models![]()
I know I could go buy a another brand but I *really* want a reliable notebook, I'm busy coming out of a rough 1.5 year relationship with Acer and I hav elots of emotional baggage![]()
I'm prepared to get the 15.4" 1280x800 model but I'd prefer something a tad smaller.
Thanks!

The 14" SXGA+ T60 is not a FlexView screen. My R60 is 150 nits and I have no problems with the brightness level though everyone is different. The T61's screen is brighter if you want another option. Supposedly they upped the brightness levels on the Dell D630 as well. It is a very sturdy notebook. I would have kept mine if not for the screen on the D620 I had.

Unfortunately the T61 is only coming to South Africa in 6-8 weeks and I don't think the T61 comes in a 1024x768 XGA flavour. I could set Windows/Linux's font DPI to a higher setting which would actually be damn sweet since I'd have the font size I need + better quality picture but so many applications don't obey the DPI settings. :\

I have a T60 14.1 inch standard screen from a month ago. It's bright enough for my purposes, I am not sure how many nits but it is very nice to look at in my opinion. I have XGA and the text is bigger because of that, which is also what I wanted, I wouldn't have wanted an SXGA as I use it mostly for surfing and text.

Awesome! I'm just a bit scared because it's a lot of money to spend but I really want a Thinkpad! I'm going to *try* organize to see a 14.1" XGA screen up close and personal.
I have a Thinkpad 390E which I use as a router and that screen is quite decent even for it's age, so I guess I'm worrying for nothing because I'm pretty sure the T60 will be much better than that 390E!
T60's 14.1" XGA screen.
