So i've got my T60 setup to go into hibernation when i close the lid. It seems as it goes into hibernation time after time, the ultimate brightness of the screen gets lower and lower until i shut it down all the way and restart it.

Is there anyway to get it to stop doing this?

Boo was hoping someone other than me ran into this problem!

Well after I created this thread I went into bios and set the LCD brightness to the highest level to see if that did it...but it didn't. I just booted into 7 from hibernation and my screen is pretty dim again so I will have to shut it down and do a fresh boot into 7 to get it bright again.

EDIT: I just went into windows updates and saw a display driver that was posted 3/25/11, maybe that will fix it.

    I have a T60p and I've had that problem since I upgraded to Win7.

I have a T60 and it's running Windows 7. I don't use the hibernate feature but it's constantly in and out of sleep mode. No brightness issues. Did you guys install the T60 power manager driver and utilities from Lenovo?

I have a T61p and I'm pretty sure I had the problem with that one too at one point, but I haven't had any problems at all since i did the bios change with it (but something else may have changed too so I don't know).

No I was trying not to install any Lenovo stuff (to keep the system lighter). I am going to try this display driver that popped up 3/25/11 in windows update first.

The key thing i've noticed is that the max brightness slowly ratchets down with each hiber/sleep session....BUT it doesn't seem do it every single session...(or maybe it does but i just don't really notice it until it gets obviously too dim and i have to fully shut down the OS).

It could be that the dimming may only happen in certain scenarios like when you go into hiber/sleep on battery (where the screen auto dims), then wake it up while plugged in (or not) and then the system thinks that dimmed state you went into sleep/hiber with is it's maximum brightness.

I haven't verified any of this so its just speculation for now until more testing is done.

I have never run into this issue with Windows 7 and Sleep mode. Have you checked to see what BIOS you are on? There was a BIOS update IIRC for Windows 7 about a year ago.

I still kinda deal with this a bit. Recently at work i tried loading the monitor file and didn't seem to make much of a difference...

now....I recently did discover a new trick. Just now with my T60 I ran into the max brightness was too dim problem. I was outside with it and closed the lid which put it into hibernation. When I came inside, plugged it in and booted up the max brightness was the same brightness I had it set to outside...

...BUT what I found is if I unplugged the AC cord and plugged it back in, it would reset the max brightness back to what it should be. This is great as I don't have to shut down and start up again.

Also I have found this problem to still happen when going into standby...

EDIT: Oh i should say yes, I did upgrade BIOSes.

    To the original poster,

Check that you have the latest version of Power Manager, and Power Manager Driver they are not the same thing. I think Power manager driver might be under a category called AMT....I just can't remember, it was quite a while ago that I installed windows7 on a T60.
