    Hello all!

I was hopeing some of you fine folk could maybe give me a bump of direction.
Im looking to replace my software development rig in the near future and I Was hopeing to avoid the mistakes I made last time I upgraded. This mistake is a 16lb flame throwing monster that makes more noise than a shop vac.(sager 8887, P4 3.06gzh).

    My goals are
    1. Linux friendly
    2. mostly silent
    3. less than 10lbs
    4. wont set fire to paper on my desk(a little heat is ok)

I know the t60p is close to want I want. Anyone have any commnets on the noise or heat or linux-ish-ness of this beast?

Oh yea Im for sure and truely after the 1600x1200 screen. I mention this in case it matters.

thinkpads are considered pretty linux-friendly - I don't have one yet but am about to order one for myself for exactly that reason (among others). You can check out a lot of linux-related questions on the Thinkwiki or the linux-thread here

T60s generally run quite quietly. The fan is on, but you can't really hear it over ambient noise.

They can get a little warm, but I regularly use my T60 sitting on my lap for a few hours at a time.
