I am wondering if there is a Flexview "AFFS" screen available for this T60P? Where could I find this screen?
Thanks,
BT60

I think they were only S-IPS, not AFFS (not sure of the differences). 4:3 or widescreen?
-
the ID-Tech panels were IPS.
none of the UXGA panels were S-IPS. -
Oh, well then I know where to get AFFS panels. lol

Feel free to tell him marlinspike from forum.thinkpads referred you in the comments if you buy. Mine should be arriving shortly.
Funny, I have an IPS panel in my T60 and all this time I thought it was S-IPS. In fact...I could have sworn it said so in the product literature. -
the 2007-WUK in question has a 1600x1200 BOE AFFS panel.

Great, you guys ROCK!
Thanks again

Hello,
Thanks again for all your help with this LCD AFFS issue, I am getting ready to install a Intel T7600 CPU, Kingston 3GB RAM, Kingston SSD 128 GB, & XP Pro SP3 2002. With wanting to keep all ThinkPad original installed features (Finger Print Reader, Security, etc...), will I need a recovery disc? Where do I find such a disc? I also have a Tech that is very good with computers, is there anything special I should know about this IBM T60P for this installation that might be special only to these computers? I do not need any problems & want this to go smoothly, if needed I can find a IBM TECH specialist for this install, PLEASE ADVISE
Thanks,
BT60 -
I don't really see anything difficult about what you're doing. You could probably do it all yourself. As long as you're changing the CPU, change the thermal paste on the headseat from the factory stuff to Artic Silver 5. I like the rescue and recovery disks, but with enough diligence you can get everything you need through a combination of the driver section of the lenovo website and the thinkvantage update utility.

Hello,
Again thanks for your help, I have located a recovery disc for $24.99 factory Recovery for XP 2007, Thinkpad T60 T60p Restore Disks - IBM FRU P/N 43T8618, does this IBM FRU PN look right for my setup? I want to get it right the first time. -
That I don't know, so hopefully someone else will chime in.

I have never upgraded a computer before, I have a partition I acquired Symantec Norton Partition Magic 8.0 Windows XP, I also have XP SP3 2002 COA w/codes OEM. I am a little leary of using this partition on my own & all the upgrades needed, I want to dive in and really learn about this T60P, any suggestions? Thanks, BT60

Hello,
I have acquired a "Symantec Norton Partition Magic 8.0 Windows XP" & XP SP3 COA OEM & a little leary of jumping right in, I have a desire to learn & want to execute all these upgrades myself (T7600, RAM, SSD Card), are there any videos or instructions for these trasks out there? I am going to order the LCD screen on EBAY today for a backup.
Thanks,
BT60 -
Perfect, I will dive right in.
Thanks, BT60 -
Congrats on the new system; I'm glad you got a Flexview T60. It'll serve your purposes well for what you're going to do with it.
If you have an original hard drive with your T60 with the recovery partition intact, a good tool to use would be HD Clone. It will make a perfect bit by bit clone of the old drive on your new SSD, although the free version takes some time to do a full clone. If not, you can call Lenovo customer service and order a set of recovery discs, last time I checked.
Either way you should download and run Lenovo system update to bring your drivers and etc. up to spec once you get everything loaded onto it.
Also, make sure you use a quality thermal paste(Arctic Silver 5 is a popular one and I used it on my old T60p with good results) when installing your new CPU and clean the heatsink surface thoroughly... there are specialized products for this but high-grade rubbing alcohol(not the 70%, there is 91% available which is much better) also works really well. If you have any questions about that consult the hardware maint. manual or post up on here.
Best of luck! -
Hello,
Yes I finally have my dream laptop & a bunch of upgrades, I should have one great laptop for sometime. I have already experienced movies, games & CADD Drawings, still cannot believe this LCD & the angles it is capable of.
This laptop is built well & does not have that cheap feeling like so many others. Thanks for the all your help in getting me to this point, a lot to learn & a great bunch of forum T60P enthusiasts!!!! HEREYEE HEREYEE
Sincerely,
BT60 -
T60p has become a speed demon. If you need more storage space, you should get an ultrabay adapter and put in a platter hdd.
-
Hello,
I ordered the recovery cd's for this T60P, I hope after I install these upgrades, these recovery CDs will do the trick. After I install these cds, it looks like I need to go to Lenovo site & run all the current updates.
Thanks again,
BT60 -
Well mine came, so I figured I'd post a before and after (before being the LG-Phillips 1400x1050 flexview and after being the boe-hydis 1600x1200 I posted an ebay link to)
before
after
(the blue hue in the after is not that the screen has a blue hue, but that I had made the photo I used for my desktop artifically blue to counter the old screen). -
Marlinspike,
Thats what I am talking about!!!!!!!! That is a beatiful screen & not much change @ extreme angles. I have been photographing & downloading pictures with great clarity on my T60P, LIFE IS GOOD!!
Enjoy,
BT60 -
what a difference.....
-
This might be a better pair of photos to show the difference because I didn't use that old artificially blue photo in the second set
before
after

Hello,You are going to love that new screen, mine is a delight. I was wondering when is the best time to visit Australia, my family & I this summer are looking at Australia as a possible vacation point this year. Maybe you could give me some local input on how to visit Australia & must see locations.
Thanks,
BT60 -
Hello,
Could you send a link for this picture, I would like to compare it to my screen.
Thanks,
BT60 -
I'm not sure what you're talking about? lol.
EDIT: OOOOOH, you mean the photo itself
yeah, give me a sec. -
ARGH! My Flexview screen now has a pixel with a stuck-on green subpixel. I could cry right now.
-
Hello,
OH NO, sorry to here that. I have sent my T60P to Brad, the "YOTA" of T60Ps in New York. I am waiting his diagnosis, got ther yesterday
BT60 -
While I'm sad to hear it never worked for you, I have confidence Brad will be able to make it right. Let me know what he says is wrong, because I'm totally stumped, and while that does happen from time to time, it's not that often that something T60 related stumps me.
-
Thanks, I will keep you updated. So have you contacted the Ebay seller for your screen?
BT60 -
How did that screen issue turn out?
BT60 -
Didn't get it through his ebay auction, and before buying it it was made clear that there are no guarantees. He's offered to sell me a new one at below his cost and try to see if the distributor will warranty the stuck pixel one in which case he'd refund me (distributor is oversears, so unlikely). If not, I figure I can resell the stuck pixel one to recoup some of the extra cost, or maybe just hold onto it for the sake of its backlight.
-
Unfortunately sometimes these things happen, good luck to you. Still have not heard back on my T60P upgrade adventure, hoping to hear soon. I am going to the High Sierras soon & was hoping to bring my T60P with me.
