I am looking at an older T60P T2500 with a 15" UXGA Flexview versus a current T60P T7200 with a 15" SXGA+ Flexview. The graphics quality and screen resolution are extremely important (primary use of computer is digital photography and Photoshop). I am wondering what people can tell me about these two screens (ie who manufactures them and what their quality is)?

    Thanx.

I have a month-old T60p with SXGA+ flexview. I believe the screen is made by IDTech (the only one of the three original manufacturers for Lenovo -- the other two are LG/Phillips and Hydis -- who still make IPS screens in the 15" form factor) I am very happy with the screen re: color reproduction. Very accurate and true with good resolution. I haven't tried to finetune it further with calibration software but I've read on other posts that that can be done for more specialized applications. As you probably know, the SXGA+ screen isn't very bright (its rated at 200 nits), but it is more than adequate for most uses.

    Hope this helps.

This one is in big demand, hard to find for reasonable price

I didn't know about the SXGA+ on the T60P being rated at 200 nits. It appears the UXGA is rated the same. For my purposes, would you recommend looking at a different computer?

    Thanx.

Oh, and by the way, you can't get a T60p with flexview, only T60 with x1400 graphics :(

You can get a flexview with x1300 graphics as well, but if you want the best out of the expensive flexview screen, then you might as well spend the extra $40 for the X1400.

ibmfan is right, unfortunately, if you are limited to the lenovo U.S. site (I was able to get a T60p with ATI firegl 5250 but it was through an educ. contract)

But the more important question re: the SXGA+ flexview for digital photography and photoshop, I think the T60 w/flexview is an excellent choice. If fact, unless you intend to use the laptop primarily as a desktop replacement with an external monitor, I don't think there is a better choice for photographic work. I work extensively with visual graphics for my research and the flexview screen is superb.

If you want confirmation, search this forum for "flexview" or check on the Thinkpad Forum ( www.forum.thinkpads.com) There are many diehard flexview fans...

There were a bunch exactly like that on ibm certified used a week ago and a couple weeks before that. For about $1450. They sold out in 2 days. They also hade the SXGA+ one for about the same price on the wkend.

If you don't game or the like, the x1400 isn't worth a dollar.
