I have an opportunity to buy a Thinkpad T60P for $380.

    Specs are:

    Intel T7400 2.16 Ghz
    100 GB 7200 rpm HD
    2 GB RAM
    15" UXGA display (IPS)
    256MB ATI Mobility FireGL V5200
    9-cell battery
    Windows 7 Ultimate

Good deal? Assuming condition is good.

Not bad... the UXGA Flexview display is still held in high regard by many ThinkPad enthusiasts. Also, the T60p's specs are about as high as they get, so it's a loaded system for the price.

I purchased one for about $550 a year ago.

as long as the condition is good, no major cracks, then it should be a fine purchase. You should also check the LCD brightness to make sure it is in good condition, i.e. no pinkish hue (which means your LCD CCFL is on the last leg).

Okay thanks for all the replies. I'm looking for a budget CAD machine. This may fit the bill.

It's not bad, I guess, but I've seen T60p's with the IPS display pop up on my local craigslist more than once for $200-$250. Might want to keep looking.

Oh, and watch out for these old systems that have "Windows 7 Ultimate" installed. It's usually hacked software and windows update may not work with it in the future.
