    I am buying a used T60P for 375$ from a member here

Based on the specs, it looks to be a bargain

    T7600
    3GB Ram
    100GB 7200RPM
    14inch SXGA+
    FireGL 5250 256MB Card
    DVD+RW
9 cell battery + 3 cell ultrabay battery

Now my main question, how were these screens? I am trying to find reviews, but I keep find reviews for the 15inch Flexscreen.

they are not Flexview screen, but these TN panels are of decent quality. 375 dollars for a T60p, you can't really go wrong.

lead, how would you compare them to the current screens used on the T400's and new Core I5 models? Alot of people are saying these screens are mediocre.

i never owned the 14.1 inch model of the T60p, but my friend had one. I never actually compared to the T400, but i did compare to the T60 (XGA) that i have. My friend's T60p LCD was slightly dimmer (which is expected for a high resolution TN panel of this era), but colour/vibrancy (not sure how to describe with LCD jargons) is about the same.

The T400 WXGA+ LCD that i have is about the same quality as that of the T60 XGA LCD.

For an older T60p which is been used constantly, don't expect the backlight to be superbright, as they do wear out from normal use.

It does not need to be super bright. Its 3 years old, but it near mint shape. The owner really took care of it. If I get 2 years out of it, I will be happy. Even 3 would be perfect.

As long as you take of them, by doing regular fan/heatsink cleaning, i don't see why you won't get 4 years+ out of them.

Yea Thinkpads are built extremely well. I am still using an X30 which is beat to hell. Casing is starting to crack in several spots and it just keeps chugging along.
