Ok, so first off all I'm going to be using this laptop for college. I'm use to a 1600x1200 display on a 19" flat screen CRT monitor, so frankly the resolutions on both laptops don't bother me much (as I just want a screen that can display at least 1440x900, preferably slightly higher, such as these two displays but not too high to the point where the computer can't handle playing games with a decent FPS). Now, I'm going to be doing some gaming on the laptop, basic word processing/internet usage, as well as a little bit of graphics work (3ds max, Maya, some photoshop too) and watching some movies. But I'm not going to be doing alot of graphics work or watching alot of movies either (more gaming as opposed to these two, but i'll still be doing these). However, at the same time I need a laptop is actually portable + has good battery life (mainly my reason for not buying a big ass gaming rig), and luckily since my uncle works for IBM, he can get me some major discounts on thinkpads...

I've heard the SXGA+ Flexpoint has more accurate color reproduction, it's brighter, and has better viewing angles, but will it really make that big of a difference for what I'm going to be doing on my laptop?

Basically I'm wondering if you guys think it's worth spending the extra money to get a SXGA+ Flexpoint screen instead of the WSXGA+ screen (or if it will even make that big of a difference for what I'm going to be using it for)

money is always worth paying to buy peace of mind. first determine what kind of person you are. then you purchase accordingly.

i personally cannot purchase something i'm going to regret later. usually, the cost of something is not enough to drive me away from what i want. life is too short to have your life full of little frustrations like man, i wish i spent 100.00 extra on that screen, and now i'm stuck with it, and returns are 15% restocking plus 50.00 in shipping.

just think of all those little things in life that bug you that you have to deal with, the clutter on the ground you step over every day, the dishes in the sink, the receipts that never get filed, and the laundry that sits there day after day. a lot of us would be ten times more fulfilled and happy if they were smart enough to pay to remove the incongruencies in their life simply by letting go of a little cash.

remember, little bits of stress and frustration add up. think of left handed people. there's a reason their life expectancy is ten years less than right handers. their life is one long frustration after another living in a world designed for right handed people. sure they all "cope" but coping ALWAYS costs something.

this topic also of course applies to life in general.

I opted for the flexview t60p and I'm very happy. I think the main factor for me was the 4:3 aspect ratio because I don't like ws. The screen is much better than another t60 non-flexview I compared it to last night. Also, if you are going to be gaming a lot, some people notice ghosting on flexviews, but I played FEAR last night and I didn't really notice any ghosting (there may have been some though). I really think it is preference, but I definitely don't regret the decision.
